Based on the Mainstream Gamer but with a few beefier components the enthusiast gamer is for those who like higher resolutions.  With ATI/AMD's new graphics line and a better processor this system will allow those with larger monitors, and larger pocketbooks to game at their best.  X-Fi soundcard from Soundblaster may be included, not final.

Case

Mainboard
As an upgrade from the Mainstream Gamer you will receive the newest DS3 from Gigabyte this time using Intel's P35 chipset.  Base on their previous P965 offering this new DS3 adds a wider range of CPU support and higher speed memory support to the DS3s already dazzling array of features.  This board supports Intel's upcoming Penryn architecture leaving room for upgrades in the future of this system.
 

 
Processor
Featuring a Core 2 Quad q6600 this chip will give you quad core performance at the right price.  Practically made for CPU intense games like Supreme Commander it's inclusion in a $2k system comes at a great value.
 

Graphics
New drivers for the ATI HD 2900XT have put this card ontop of Nvidia's equivalent product the 8800GTS 640Mb.  With 512Mb of ram this card can support higher resolutions than the 320Mb 8800GTS, but with higher performance with new and improved drivers from AMD/ATI this card is a better choice than the 640Mb 8800GTS. 
 
 

Memory
2 gigs of Wintec's AMPX DDR2 1000 memory will feed your computer with all of it's high performance memory needs. (Quick Note: This is an upgrade from the Mainstream's DDR2 800 AMPX modules)

Disk Drives

 

Due to suggestions I am replacing the previous Asus drive, for the original LITEON 20X DVDR drive.  Because of the improved quality of burned disks and barely noticeable price difference you will not be dissapointed by the LITEON drive.  This drive includes the added feature of LightScribe, which allows you to put custom images on your discs.
